And it didn't, that part wasn't shocking, Tony Stark- Iron man, had absolutely no self preservation, which Peter can pretend he hated, when in fact he ended picking up that exact trait up from him. It was obvious Tony would meet his fate sooner or later, that expectation is set with every single superhero, assuming you'll live long just because you have powers is a naive belief, a target on your back constantly was no fun for anybody, but it was something you had to accept just came with the job.
