Summary
Matthew rolled over, his eyes moving from the ceiling to the bedside table. He noticed a note resting on the side, held down by a maple leaf.
He blinked. It wasn’t dried like the ones he usually collected, but fresh. With his fingers, he pushed back its orange edges that faded into a vibrant red at the center.
Picking it up, he read the note, which was written in short but neat cursive.
Don’t forget to eat. I’ll be home before dinner. Love you.
Before going to work, Vincent goes on a walk. Matthew copes with loneliness.

Summary
They walked in silence for a few moments, letting the crunch of leaves fill the space between them. Matthew’s hand itched to reach for another leaf, but he resisted. He didn’t want to get lost in the habit while Vincent was beside him.
Instead, Matthew looked up, admiring their delicate edges and warm hues. Its long branches towered over the lot of grass it sat on, bundles of leaves adorned with the lush colors of autumn.
He didn’t notice that Vincent was looking at him as he followed his gaze to the leaves.
Matthew and Vincent go on a walk.

Summary
Hence, Pennsylvania decided to check out the book to read tonight. He hadn’t picked up a book that wasn’t a reference for his essays, much less for pleasure.
When he returned to his dorm, Delaware leaned over from his desk to greet him. Noticing the book in his arm, his mouth fell agape. “You can read?”
Pennsylvania scoffed. If he hadn't been in such a pleasant mood, he would have thrown the book at him.
After fracturing his ribs before the hockey season, Pennsylvania works at his college’s library.
