    Summary

They are silent for a long time, fingers tangled and warming together. Long enough that Steve is almost positive that James has gone to sleep.

James, however, speaks quietly, gently, as if to a lover. "Have you ever fallen in love with a patient, Doctor?"

Steve's heart jumps and is suddenly a hammer against his sternum. He closes his eyes and noses into the top of James' head, and says, "Not before you."

    Summary

Alpha Steve Rogers just wanted a quiet night out—no cameras, no screaming fans, no reminders that he’s Steve Rogers™, Sexiest Man Alive. What he got instead was a mob of drunk admirers, a panic spiral, and a hiding spot behind the bar of a Miami cocktail lounge.

Enter Bucky Barnes: omega, confident, sharp-tongued, devastatingly pretty, and absolutely not interested in celebrity nonsense.

If Steve wants to hide, he’s gotta work—and what starts as a desperate escape turns into the most fun Steve’s had in years. Mixing drinks, swapping banter, and falling harder than he means to for the bartender who sees right through the Hollywood charm.

But when the night winds down and Steve works up the courage to ask Bucky back to the afterparty, he gets a polite smile—and the truth.

Bucky’s not just the man behind the bar. He’s a dad, and he’s already got someone waiting for him at home.

Steve came looking for quiet. He didn’t expect to find something real.

Loosely inspired by the real-life meet-cute of Matt Damon and the bartender who didn’t care who he was.

    Summary

James takes a bolt of white light to the chest. He goes down and doesn’t get back up.

A few minutes later, Steve finds a teenage boy passed out in black armor two sizes too big for him.

The world’s most notorious wetwork operative is now a sixteen-year-old from the 30s. James was living with Steve, so the boy—who goes by Bucky and looks at Steve with mingled awe and wariness—is determined to be Steve’s responsibility. Natasha looks sympathetic but not enough to save him from his fate. Tony and Strange are bickering over how much of it is magic and how much is science.

    Sam tries to console him.

“It’s temporary,” he murmurs, fingers locked tight around Steve’s wrist. “It’ll be fine, Steve.”

    Steve believes him.

That’s a mistake. The first of many.

    Summary

There is a fortress inside of Bucky, and its guardian doesn’t want him to see what’s hidden inside. When life’s storm forces him to examine the hidden memories, Bucky discovers a past and a past self that haunts him.

This is a slow-burn journey to self-reclamation and healing against the backdrop of a struggling relationship with Steve as they both reckon with the emotional fallout of trauma and internalized violence. Therapy is no quick fix, and love is no cure—can there be hope when nothing can “solve” so much brokenness?

(Yeah. Like, yes. Not trying to be all spoiler-y, but very much yes. I would not be writing this if I wasn’t going to deliver a hopeful ending. You can call me Jimmy John’s, boys, because I fucking deliver.)
