They teach the recruits the dirtier side of hand-to-hand combat. Showing them the soft spots between muscle groups where you can dig your fingers in to grab muscle, sinew or nerve and pull, where you can press deeper into flesh to hit nerves that render whole body parts useless. They show the softer parts of the human body that hide beneath the seams of gear, the parts that are usually not protected by it and how you can get out of a tight spot if you need and are out of other options."
