    Brady’s fingers hovered over their private chat before bouncing over to recent contacts, and then back again. It didn’t help that the last message he had sent was ‘kick some Oilers’ ass’ and obviously that hadn’t translated to the game itself.

    He wasn’t sure if it was his own exhaustion that had him debating over how to best contact Quinn, or that topple from Perry. Brady had felt the hit the moment that Quinn did, although muted at such a long distance, but even now his neck was sore enough that he had called down to room service for a bag of frozen vegetables, which was balancing precariously around his shoulders.

    In hindsight, Brady probably could have asked the trainers to lend him a proper ice pack, but then he would have to explain why and then he would have to lie to someone, again. And Matthew always told him that he was shitty at lying, and although Matthew liked chirping him a little too much, he was always truthful when it mattered. Which is why Matthew was the only one other than Quinn’s brothers who knew about the bond.

    A soulmate bond.
