When Elena feels her humanity returning she finds herself focusing on having finally been free from the Salvatore brothers, and doesn't abandon her justified anger. Unfortunately, she also realizes that her sire bond to Damon isn't fully broken and goes to Rebekah for help, help that involves a little trip to New Orleans.
On the way, Elena will have to deal with her newly returned humanity as well as some long-awaited truths about Caroline's old relationship with the older Salvatore.

“You should wash.” Gerard says, releasing Frank’s hip as well and using it to pat his shoulder instead. “I didn’t mean to distract you.”
“Oh my fucking god,” Frank groans, rolling his eyes. “Is this about Saturday?” He rights himself and turns, hoping that maybe his face looks a little more murderous than it feels. It apparently doesn’t, because Gerard just dons an even wider grin.
“Is what about Saturday?” Gerard asks innocently, as he exits the shower altogether.
Frank’s gonna kill him.

You love it when he reads your mind.
“I uh- I was actually going to ask you when I called,” you admit, almost sheepishly.
A small smile quirks up the corner of his mouth, and the smile very quickly turns into a smirk that you recognize all too well.
“Were you?” He inquires. He rolls to push his laptop away from him, far enough that when he gets himself situated again, you’re able to see all of him, spread out on the bed like a painting. It should be cheesy, but it’s hard to find it anything other than alluring at the moment. “I’d hate to take away the opportunity.”
