    I could recognize his footsteps before he even entered our tent. I could only imagine how I looked. Eyes red and glazed, gaze empty, tears dried out on my face chest barely rising and falling. If I had my eyes closed, I would look dead, I think, and it amuses me.

    He must have thought the same thing, for he comes and kneels before our bed. He looks at me as he used to, before the plague, and Briseis, and his horrible plan. I forgot that we don’t know how to be mad with each other.

    “I’m sorry for what I said.” He says and I am shocked. He never apologizes; his mother had not taught him how.

    I once again remain silent. He mistakes my silence for anger and his eyes get more desperate. Touching my hand is not enough, so he takes me in his arms instead.

    “Talk to me, please, stop torturing me with your silence.” He says voice wavering and a bit scratchy, and I feel my tears forming again. I hate to see him cry.

    “I can’t.” I whisper.

    Achilles informs Patroclus of the plan he and his mother came up with to make the Greeks lose again and again. This is an emotional dive on Patroclus thoughts, a depiction of Achilles's anger and pride and how it affects his most beloved.
