“…Minato hasn’t had his first kiss yet,” a soft voice suddenly cut through the silence, cool like winter breeze, like water from the mountains. It called to Minato, and Minato found himself responding to the call. His head snapped up to look directly at Seiya, who continued speaking a moment later. “Neither have I.”
‘—That’s not true,’ Minato’s mind supplied, but it wasn’t that thought what made his heart clench in his chest. It was the fact that Seiya didn’t lie, ever. He was a man of half-truths, but not a liar. He prided himself in that, Minato knew. Seiya could always pull himself away from every situation with a cutting comment and a polite smile. He didn’t need to lie. But he was doing it now.
And it was for Minato’s sake.

Kakeru remembers the first time Haiji asked him to assist in making dinner for their teammates—he remembers the tension bouncing between them, still unsure of Haiji, and unsure of himself in Haiji’s presence, remembers the tiptoeing he did to avoid conversation for more than a few moments at a time, his short answers, subdued sounds of acknowledgement in response. Haiji was always friendly, but even then, Kakeru bristled.
