“It’s just that—” Bess sets the book down in front of them and opens it to a page she’d bookmarked. It’s a journal, he realizes, with spidery writing filling the pages. “She has to be—er—satisfied.”
“Satisfied,” Ace says, and frowns. “What does that mean?”
George lets out a little choked snort and Nick turns an interesting shade of red.
“Like—satisfied,” Bess says miserably. “When she burned the dress, the smoke contained all of the, the unresolved lust of the women who’d worn it—so to fix it, you make sure the woman, er—that she—look, it’s actually kind of feminist, in a way!”

He raises his stick to the crowd, like he’s supposed to. The Canadian team claps for them, like they’re supposed to. Geno feels sick to his stomach. Probably like he’s supposed to, all things considered.
Sidney's smile comes bursting back out of him in that way of his, this big goofy grin breaking through like sunshine through the clouds right after a rain. Geno loves that smile, but for once, he doesn’t want to see it.

“Goddamn, Crow,” Duncs says from his stall, tossing a grin over at him. “Everyone in here owes you a steak and a blowjob.”
He glances up, intending to laugh it off along with his teammates, and accidentally makes eye contact with Saad.
Saad isn’t laughing.
Saad is looking back at him, the slightest smirk playing on his lips, and he looks a little intense, almost hungry. Corey thinks the room gets a little bit warmer. It might just be the flush on his cheeks.

Tristan takes the coffee with a muttered thanks, and holds eye contact as he blows on it.
Max is caught halfway between amusement and involuntary arousal. “What’s going on here?” he asks, cautious, aiming for more confused than turned on. He’s already broken the Code with one subordinate; he probably shouldn’t make it two.
“That depends on you,” Tristan says. He sips. Max watches his throat work. “I’ll tell you what I’d like to happen. I’d like you to get on your knees.”
