"Val’s trained, expert guards were going down like pins in a bowling alley, one after another after another. Every guard killed made a pause in the sound. There was a chorus of harsh screams rising between the pauses. Screams and cries and wet, choking gurgles.

“Are you okay?” Angel Dust asks after a moment.
Vaggie huffs, horrified to find it sounds wet around the edges. “I asked you that first.”
Angel ducks his head and chuckles.
“Yeah, s’pose ya did.”
Vaggie can’t sleep through the night. It happens all the time, she knows how to deal with it (quietly and on her own). Except this time Angel interrupts her solitary wallowing.
