Summary
Vegeta and Bulma come together to seal a fragile treaty between unlikely allies. Both have much to gain and much to compromise.
It is an arrangement of convenience. They collaborate, and each gets what they need. Attachment is not part of the agreement. They certainly don't have to like each other. They barely need to interact to reach their intertwined goal. They just need to stay focused.
But, focus can become... elusive, when your imposed not-really-your-spouse is so damned——distracting!

You put on that server’s uniform I got you, hand out as many Varri-cake samples as you possibly can, and then,” Varrick stopped and whirled around on his heel, landing inches from Zhu Li’s face, “As soon as the party’s over, you are gonna figure out a way to get me outta there. What do I always say about dealing with crazy women, Zhu Li?”
Zhu Li frowned and adjusted her glasses. “Lie big and leave fast, sir,” she said.
Varrick smiled. “Exactly.”
It was going to be a long night.

Lost among the ruins of war-torn Republic City, Varrick and Zhu Li find themselves with only each other for company. Still transitioning from work partners to romantic partners, the elephant in the room can be ignored no longer: Zhu Li isn't his assistant, and Varrick isn't her boss. So what are they now? Well that's the question, isn't it?

Zhu Li had a problem -- she was definitely, absolutely, in love with her boss.
But he wasn't in love with her. (probably).
Endeavouring to get over it all, Zhu Li, as in all cases, referred to a logical and methodical plan that had served her well in every issue from Ba Sing Se University to literal prison. But a last-ditch attempt leaves her questioning if every problem has a solution -- or if there was a problem at all.
