Summary
Romano reminisces about the first time he met Prussia, all the way back in the 1700s. His first impression had been far from good because he had misunderstood the Prussian’s attitude toward him.
At the time, Romano was little more than one of Spain’s colonies, with no control over his own affairs and looked down on by nearly everyone. Being a colony was deeply disheartening. Prussia, by contrast, was a rising nation, a power respected by nearly all of Europe, whether they liked him or not.
And now, it was strange, really, to see how much had changed in the modern world for the two nations, and how the tables had turned.
