Summary
Silence for a few long seconds, then Chairman Han piped up again, “So, Jaya have you ever thought about moving here?”
She paused, confused, “Move here?? Like-- Like to Korea???”
“Yes. I’m aware your parents both moved to America to give you more opportunities and so on but…”
“I haven’t ever thought about it… everyone I know is back in the states and I’m working with my parents there too so…”
“But Jumin is here, right?”
Jaya held her lips in a thin line and glanced to Jumin, then her eyes snapped back toward the Chairman. She couldn’t really tell what he was trying to get at, and by how Jumin was looking at him, he couldn’t either.
Jumin felt her stare and cleared his throat. “Father, what is this about? Don’t force her to move here if she doesn’t want to, Jaya has an established life in the US.”
His dad looked at the both of them and clasped his hands together, resting them on the table. “Jaya’s parents and I have been talking more recently. Its been a while since we’ve been in contact, so of course we had plenty to catch up on. That’s when we realized that our kids have yet to find a partner.” After saying that, he paused for dramatic effect.
Jaya’s heart dropped.
