Summary
“My humble apologies, Imperator,” Hysilens says, her voice rasping unpleasantly—still so unaccustomed to the human tongue. She clears her throat, pressing a hand to her chest. “To see that fish in the blackness where the sun’s rays dare not shine… it is as a star; radiant in the depths of the sea. Not unlike your blazing light, which guided me to shore.”
Cerydra takes a long sip of her glass, only to fall silent. Golden ichor drips from the corner of her mouth, and Hysilens resists the urge to reach out, and…
“Were you truly so allured?” Cerydra murmurs, shattering the silent moment almost off-handedly—which is strange—no action of the Imperator's is impromptu in the slightest. She is an angler, a chessmaster. She is patient, composed, and she does not err lightly.
But Cerydra blinks as she looks to Hysilens, as if she too is struck with momentary surprise at her own tongue. Her breath is sweet, and warm against her siren’s scales. And Hysilens nods.
“Yes,” she whispers, for none but her light to hear. “I was.”
"Twist the knife, Helektra."

Summary
As she lowers the weapon, Ada Wong feels her whole world turning upside down.
Then it all comes back in a sudden moment, she blinks, air blown into her lungs like she has inhaled oxygen after drowning. Leon stands in front of her, hands fisted on each side of his body, the shadow of a smirk painted on his lips. He looks hopeful and it terrifies Ada.

“Am I dead?” Jingliu gasps.
“No.” Ruan Mei pries Jingliu’s mouth open, holding the tongue down with her thumb. “You are so delightfully alive. And now I have the pleasure of putting you back together.”

Summary
She’s witnessed wars before, wars with the Denizens of Abundance, even with the Antimatter Legion as well. Never has she felt a backlash so harsh—the weight of the throne is truly too much for her to bear, is it?
Overconfidence. Arrogance. People say these things are bound to bite you in the heel eventually, but Fu Xuan has always dismissed their chatter—you can’t deem her over-anything if she’s extraordinarily intelligent and capable in nature. Never would she have thought that it would be her own heart dragging her down by the ankle, to feel the coarse ice on the ground.
(fu xuan breaks down after the luofu's latest crisis; all her intellect, her power, proves to be naught.)

Summary
To Himeko.
Breath hitching, Himeko traces over the letters with her finger. It trails lightly over the uppercase 'H,' pausing briefly over the arches of the 'm,' and then digs its way over to the looping 'o.'
That is her name. Someone left this here for her. Someone left a container with her name on it, on a planet that's dying under the weight of its own blizzards; a planet that Himeko has never seen before in her life.
or, Himeko, Kafka, and the letters they leave for each other across galaxies.
