Life is finally falling into its comfort now that Sanemi has agreed to stay. His promise of just one year feels like a distant nightmare despite his acceptance of his new family occurring only a few weeks prior.
Family life, as it were, leaves little opportunity for privacy. Though Giyuu is a man on a mission, and Sanemi is the prize he's searching for. He's pulled all the stops to make this a night they'll remember; to make it the grandest "thank you" he can ever offer the man he now so safely calls his lover.

'He's a child. I wanted to know if you'd consider coming with us.'
'This is a terrible idea, me and you.'
'I know,' Tomioka sighs, 'but I can't ask anyone else.' "
Or, the war is over, leaving only Giyuu, Sanemi and Muichiro as the surviving Pillars. Though broken and alone, there's half a chance they'll be able to make themselves whole again with one another- even if they're the world's worst roommates.
