Zhongli lands a chaste kiss on Childe’s forehead as the thought crosses his mind.
The singularity that Childe is, he’s the movement that creates his new universe, and indeed, he has the ability, in a far future, to swallow it all with his disappearance. However, such risk can be mitigated. He will make it so that his beloved will be with him for millennia. He shall bestow Childe that so-called divinity. His beloved will flourish into the everlasting lush garden, and he'll seed him for that of eternity.

One bound by reverence is as erasable as the morning dew.
Discarded and exiled from his birth land, it was Morax who gave him a new chance and a new purpose in life. He was pardoned and reborn under His kindness, flourishing as His loyal commander.
He is Morax’s loyal weapon.
However, taken as a hostage and racing against an irreversible decision, a thought flees through Childe's mind, crumbling down the last defense of his highly-guarded heart.
Even after all of this time, his desire to be loved remains.
To be adored and regarded as a precious being, not as a weapon nor the monster people deem him to be, but just… Ajax.

"You seem… to have a different goal unlike the others," Zhongli remarked after a long pause, setting down his cup. His voice was quiet, but there was something contemplative in it. "Most here seek only to flatter. But you…"
"I seek only to survive, Your Majesty," Ajax replied, meeting Zhongli’s gaze without hesitation. "In this place, survival is not guaranteed for someone like me. I have no allies, no status. But I believe we Snezhnayans are strong because we make our own fate."
Zhongli’s expression didn’t change, but Ajax could tell his words had struck a chord. "You speak boldly for someone of your rank."
"Boldness is all I have, Your Majesty," Ajax said with a small smile. "I must use what I can."
For the first time, Zhongli’s lips curved into the barest hint of a smile. "Perhaps there is more to you than meets the eye, Prince Ajax."
That was all Ajax needed—a sign that he had caught the emperor’s interest.
