“Why did you stop talking to Tommy?”
The question perfumes the air with an illogical amount of accusation and forces a shocked laugh out of Eddie.
“What?”, Eddie asks.
“Why did you stop talking to Tommy?”, Buck repeats.
His hands are folded across his stomach in a way that accentuates the sheer size of his upper arms. It’s a distraction perfectly welcome, Eddie thinks.

“Tomorrow. When you’re in your right mind, we’ll pick this up… And if you’re serious about this, well…”
“We’ll figure it out?”, Buck answers with a sheepish whisper. His glossy eyes meet Eddie’s and he knows with all the certainty in the world that this has always been there. He’s never been so sure.
“We always do”, Eddie answers sweetly and simply.

Athena’s voice was gone, but the sound of her final words lingered well after the disconnect tone rang.
A vibrational shock took over Bobby’s body and sent reverberations through his head. His brain attempted to puzzle its way through the simple, unassuming words and their intended meaning, but ultimately came up short. Instead, he focused his attention on Athena and the thoughts that filled, or vacated, her head when she lets those sacred words escape her lips.
