When Min-su woke the next morning, the apartment was empty. The sheets were rumpled, faintly stained with dried blood. The stranger was gone.
But on the pillow beside him, a single playing card lay face up. The Joker.
And scrawled across it, in dark, looping script: See you soon.
A shiver ran down his spine. Who had he let into his home? A stranger, bleeding and smirking, with something wild in his eyes. There was something familiar about him, something Min-su couldn’t quite place. He picked up the card, running his thumb over the edges. It felt like a mistake, but a mistake that had already burrowed its way into his life.

Soft hands framed his face, pulling him from his thoughts. Minsu’s touch was always so warm. A small smile stretched across Subong’s lips.
“Yeah,” he murmured. “Just thinking.”
Minsu studied him for a moment, his head tilting slightly. “About what?”
Subong exhaled, letting his eyes roam over Minsu’s face. The same face that had been his anchor when he thought he would drown.
“You.”
