It doesn’t matter, because Pete learns that no Alpha wants an Omega like him: rough around the edges, strong and aggressive and unyielding.
Worst of all, he learns that the hormones he has been taking for years have changed his body irrevocably. He learns that he is barren, his reproductive organs scarred beyond repair. He learns that he will never have a heat — not unless he finds his true mate, something so preposterous and outrageous that Pete can’t help but laugh. He knows all of the things wrong with him, is very aware of all of the ways he is broken. He knows he will never find a mate, because after all, what Alpha would want an Omega like him?

Or, Pete's father forced him to take hormones to alter his biology, so despite being an Omega, he looks and smells like an Alpha. Also Pete is an idiot. -

Summary
Pete hasn't the chance to explain, not that he knows how he'd do that anyway, because Fruit rocks onto his toes to bring their faces close together and inhales.
It might have been funny, in some lights, how the colour drains from Fruit's features and he drops back to his normal height.
"Oh. I'm sorry," Hands clasped before him, Fruit bows his head. Because that's what you’re supposed to do for an older Omega. You show respect. It scrapes against Pete’s nerves like sandpaper though, and he almost reaches out to pull Fruit back to standing and insist he never do that again, but he pops back up all on his own. "I thought you were– I've never smelt any Omega like–" Fruit's stuttering halts abruptly, and he bows again. "Forgive me, Kaan."
The boy hurries into the bathroom, cheeks bright pink, and Pete redirects his gaze to the wall opposite. He focuses on doing his job. On protecting. On searching for danger.
He does not think about how Fruit had mistaken him for an Alpha. Because Omegas don't smell like how Pete smells.
He does not think about the title that haunts him through his every waking moment. Kaan Pete.
