“Okay.” He drops a pack of gauze onto the bench and pinches his nose. “What?”
“That’s the most you’ve said about it,” she states.
“Because I didn’t really want to talk about it.”
“Okay…and now?”
He sighs. “Maybe.”
“Well…” Nancy looks around at the empty garage. Aside from a few stragglers, everyone seems to be doing their own thing while it’s quiet. “Now’s a good time.”
“And you get to decide that because…”
“Because I saved your naked ass out in the snow and saw way too much of you doing it, and I chewed through my nails at the hospital. The least you could do is give me even a fake excuse.”
Oddly enough, it gets TK to laugh. He knows she’s not actually pressuring him into anything, but he also knows that he’s not going to get out of this conversation without giving her something. And she’s kind of right — he does owe her. After all, he’d been pretty short with her for a while after the breakup.
In other terms: he was a little bitch.
