   “I think you should ask Sirius to pretend with you for the holidays.”
   Remus frowns. “Pretend?” His mum thinks they’re dating. What are they pretending? Ask Sirius… And then it hits him. “Absolutely not.”

   Remus accidentally tells his mum he's dating his best friend. To avoid the utter mortification of telling her he accidentally lied, he asks said best friend to pretend to be his boyfriend for the holidays.
   Sirius, the best friend in question, is not used to thinking before opening his mouth. He says yes.
