Shen Wei has always appreciated the city's nekomimi population. They remind him of his own people, not only in their abilities but in all the ways mainstream society subtly discriminates against them. Since no imbalance can be corrected by equity alone, he’s careful to show them slightly more respect than their human counterparts.
Some of the cat people take a human lover or partner. Some of them choose not to speak to humans at all. Shen Wei respects their choices and their boundaries. He certainly does not fetishize them.

When the Vice Minister’s only child elopes at the last minute, only his nephew – Guo Changcheng – can step in to rectify the scandal and save face.
And while Chu Shuzhi doesn’t give a shit about politics, he sure as hell doesn’t trust a Haixingian to walk freely around his own territory. Especially one who has such a deceptively innocent face.
