   Summary

   Ribcage had always been a funny word to Ranpo. Cage implied there was something it was locking in, keeping the heart and lungs in place in fear of them escaping. He’s read some of Poe’s darker books, ones where the main character tears apart his lover’s chest to watch the horrifyingly beautiful pulsing of their heart. Ranpo always wondered what it was like. Never like this, though. He could see Dazai’s ribs now, and it was awful.

   Or, Dazai gets injured on a mission and it's up to Ranpo to keep him alive.
