Kenji skidded to a halt as he took in the scene before him. Ben was definitely alive, but hanging by a thread. Kenji gasped at the blood blooming across his abdomen but was more entranced by the way the smaller boy was facing down their shared nightmare. He was waving a torch in Toro’s face, spear in hand that was already stained with blood. Ben then chucked the torch at Toro with a surprising amount of accuracy. He looked fierce and for the first time, Kenji wondered if he had ever really been needed to protect Ben.
“Fuck, he’s hot.” Kenji blurted, Yaz smacked him upside the head immediately as Bumby ran down into the clearing as backup.
“You should be running down to help him, idiot.” Brooklynn supplied as she pushed the tall boy down the slope.
