“And you’re replacing yourself.”
They are briskly walking down the hall, Alina struggling to keep up with the much taller woman. How does she move so fast in those shoes? Everything is bright and beautifully decorated. The more she looks around, the more Alina feels out of her element.
Zoya cuts her a disdainful glance at the interruption. “I’m trying. Aleksander sacked the last two girls after only a few weeks. We need to find someone who can survive here. Do you understand?”
“Yes. Of course. Who’s Aleksander?”
Zoya’s eyes widen, she looks like someone just sucker-punched her. “You didn’t just ask me that. He’s the editor-in-chief of Grisha. Not to mention a legend. Work a year for him and you can get a job at any magazine you want. A million girls would kill for this job.”
“Sounds great. I’d love to be considered.”
Zoya stops walking. She gives Alina a patronizing smile, “Alina, Grisha is a fashion magazine. An interest in fashion is crucial.”
“What makes you think I’m not interested in fashion?”
