“Don’t.” The word cuts through the air, none of Shinsou’s careful control. It sounds like fracturing ice. Midoriya flinches. He wishes they could walk backwards, retrace their steps in the snow, that he could keep his mouth shut. The wind blows, snowflakes like glass against his skin.

It was stupid, maybe Izuku just left the lamp standing on his bedside table on today, sometimes when the nightmares were too much he tended to do just that. Maybe he was already asleep, getting his much needed rest after today's visit in Recovery Girl's office, and Hitoshi by his impulsive actions just woke him up, maybe-
