Osamu is sixteen when he first meets Akaashi, their feet sturdy on smooth ground and gym lights fluorescent above their heads. There's nothing too special about that, Osamu meets new people all the time. But it's something about the way that Akaashi smiles that has him stupefied, speckles of rice stuck to his cheek in the corridor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Gym.
In which Miya and Akaashi grow into Osamu and Keiji with the help of convenience store onigiri and plastic bottles of tea.
