Summary
Lysa’s letter never makes it to Winterfell.
In its absence, King Robert still looks to renew the spark of friendship he once had with Eddard Stark, but when Ned turns down the offer to be Hand, his attention shifts to his namesake and Ned’s eldest son instead. Thus, Robb goes south in the place of his father, down into the lion’s den that is King’s Landing, almost entirely alone. Meanwhile, Jon finds that having the name Snow can be useful, Arya takes control of her own life, and through it all Ned desperately tries to keep his family safe.

Summary
Everyone knows Mace Tyrell is a fool. The Fat Flower of Highgarden, an oaf who stumbled into power and lets his formidable mother run the Reach from behind his chair.
Everyone is wrong.
When the Tyrells embark on an unprecedented journey north—ostensibly to visit the legendary Wall—they bring more than wagons laden with grain and steel. They bring questions. Particularly about a certain bastard boy raised alongside the Stark heirs, treated with far more care than any lord's indiscretion should warrant.
But the North keeps its own counsel, and Eddard Stark has survived a rebellion, kept his secrets for fourteen years, and will not yield them easily—not even to the cleverest roses the South can grow.

Summary
From her hiding spot, Marja stared at the boy. He had the same eyes as her son. Her precious little Emil, less than a year old, had the same sea-blue gaze as this child, only maybe a shade darker. Then all she could think of was her son in this boy’s place, his eyes staring off into nothing, and she sobbed, tears blurring her vision.
The boy’s mouth moved, and even though nothing but a low gurgle of blood escaped his lips, Marja could see the shape they made. She could see him silently cry, mother, mother.

Summary
Robb knew that everything was going to change when he called the banners. If the Lannisters wanted a war, he would give them one, but no one wants to fight a war alone. His father used to tell them "When the snow falls and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." The pack was broken now but there was one member he could bring back from frozen isolation. Together, just maybe, they could save the others as well.
