When Bobby looked at Dean in the eyes, he couldn't see what John was raving about: those were the eyes of a scared ten-year-old no matter how you looked at them, not the eyes of a 'defiant little rascal'. He tried to understand, he really did, but all he saw was a big angry man and a terrified little boy, and there was no questioning who was in the wrong there. So, he did what he never figured he would do.
"Leave him here," he said. "But don't come back."
And come back he didn't.
or, John leaves Dean at Bobby's at just ten years of age, taking only Sammy with him. Life goes on and kids grow up, and years later Dean is not the man John Winchester raised and Sam is not Dean's little brother.

Summary
Everyone finds her comeback bittersweet, she can tell. Jodi is finally back in her own body and the people in the caves keep given her these almost smiles, always haunted by the realization that Sunny was no more. She hated them. Why were they so happy to see her and still be so sad that her body snatcher was gone? The worst of it was seeing Kyle recoil at her touch and advances. It was her, back in her own body, feeling her own feelings... and her boyfriend was grieving a parasite and calling it wife.
Unwilling to give her body back to an alien, not even for the sake of the man she loves most in the world (the man she came back for!), Jodi has to either come to terms with her new reality or disappear again, and she liked neither option.
