Milk is starting to drip on the floor now, and Subaru is the first one to burst into bouts of laughter. (“oh my god—Ukki, oh my god—”) Makoto looks like he might faint when he cracks up right after, which is making the mess worse—and Hokuto, who is seemingly at a loss now, holding his napkin in the air uselessly, can't really help himself either as they laugh along until their cheeks hurt and their stomachs are cramping.
Mao decides right then and there that, yeah, he wouldn’t trade any of this for the world.

Summary
Phainon lets out a sigh, watching as the Chimera nestled in Mydei’s arms emits a soft purring sound, utterly content. The others have settled back into place—one draped across Mydei’s lap, two curled by each of his thighs, and the blue one still slung over his bare shoulder like a living, breathing scarf.
Then, unexpectedly, Phainon murmurs, almost to himself, “I want that too.”
Mydei looks up. “You want to hold a Chimera?”
But Phainon just gives him that look—the one he’s perfected ever since discovering Mydei’s soft spot for it.
The sad puppy look.
Suspicious, Mydei narrows his eyes. “You want to hold a Chimera... right?”
