“Zhongli,” Childe says, rocking them side to side slightly. “I’ve got it.”
“Got what?” Zhongli asks. It’s impossible to not smile when faced with that look - it’s something that had compelled him to want to be Childe’s friend. No one makes him smile as much as Childe can.
“I should suck you off,” Childe continues, still smiling, still rocking them from side to side. “It’s perfect. You’re sexually repressed-” Nonsense, and Zhongli scoffs- “and really bad at picking up women-” Okay, that’s true- “and I’m bisexual. I can suck dick. Good at it, even.”
Zhongli’s heartbeat is far too loud in his ears, but he’s very sure he didn’t mishear that. “Um.” That wasn’t where he thought this conversation would go, but now they’re here it’s actually surprisingly easy to imagine Childe on his knees. “But you’re… not my boyfriend?”
Zhongli knows two things about himself - that he's heterosexual, and that he's going to fail his entire degree if he doesn't get his brain to co-operate with the whole learning thing. Childe muted himself on his call and turned his focus on his livestream. “Thank you for the Starry Night, Saviour Sword. Thank you for the three Starry Nights, Scaramouche’s Number One Simp, although we don’t support Scaramouche here. Thank you for the Meteor Shower, Carrying Your Mom.”
As he sipped on his protein shake, Childe thanked his donors for quite a few minutes until he neared the end of the list.
“Thank you for the two Starry Nights, Watch Me Solo 69. Thank you for the eight Celestial…” Childe blinked twice, slowly, then rubbed his eyes. His eyes flicked to his monitor in an instant and he straightened the hem of his neckline, sitting taller. “Thank you for the eight Celestial Blooms, Zhongli.”

It is quite foolish of him, he thinks, gently caressing the petal between his fingers. This state he finds himself in, the way he grew fond of no more than mere soldier, a mere means to an end. A Contract to end All Contracts, and yet he went for friendship, charmed by youthfulness and pure curiosity.
Zhongli’s not stupid nor ignorant; he’s sure of what he’s looking at, even though it seems ridiculous, offensive. Some deep, deep prideful part of him rumbles at the thought of it, enraged and furious.
