  Summary

  If needed, the Doctor could argue with the devil; fight with him over the right of being at Gabriel's side seeing that he had arguments, very valid ones. But the Doctor was tired, the arguments didn't work against Edward's stubbornness, and the "if'' was an annoyance. He lacked the energy to fight the devil and the archangel at the same time, the latter being too strong against him.

  "I'd love to." The Doctor gave in finally, taking a sip of his tea.
