Poseidon’s chest tightened as he finally turned to face Apollo. He tried to hide the panic rising within him, but Apollo saw through him. Apollo’s expression was unreadable, his tone measured and cold. “I’ve been patient, Poseidon. But now it’s time for my payment. I want her.”

Poseidon stepped closer, his heart aching for his son. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, Percy. I don’t think I even deserve it,” he said truthfully. “But I’m asking for a chance. A chance to show you that I do care. That I’ve always cared."
The sea god stepped closer to his beloved son, his eyes gentle and inviting. “I know it’s too late for a lot of things, but if you’ll let me, I want to be a part of your life, from here on out.”
