Summary
“Do you wanna be friends?” He asks boyishly, in a voice he hasn’t heard in so long. Will immediately breaks out into a smile, nodding eagerly.
“You said yes… you said yes. It was the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Another memory. They’re together in Mike’s basement, dressed as their D&D characters— Mike is his very own Mike the Brave, wearing cardboard paladin armor and Will the Wise, wearing his old purple robes with silver stars on the pointy hat and flowing cloak. The same one he’d always worn because Mike mentioned how nice he looked in it. They’re giggling and turning pages through a brand new D&D guidebook. The same one they use even now.
Mike’s crooked smile. His soft freckles, warm eyes even though they were the colors of darkest voids. His tall, lean body. His black curly hair.
Mike. He loves Mike. And he always will.
He just needed to stop being so scared of it.
OR: an almost-complete rewrite/fix it of Season 5. Canon-typical violence/action and (internalized) homophobia. Alternating POVs.
