“Do not concern yourself with that, Mr. Lannister,” she smiles sadly, not showing her teeth. “They had forgotten something else.”
“Such as?”
“I was built to fight armies, sir.” She pauses, looks away, straight towards the wall. “The three rules do not apply to me, or I couldn’t have killed human opponents. It doesn’t matter to them anyway because we’re not expected to survive and they retire us if we do.”
“I imagine you didn’t cover their sorry arse next time you were fighting someone?”
“I actually did,” she replied. “But I didn’t put myself in harm’s way to save them. Most died. The ones who did lost an arm or a leg. And I didn’t get retired nor they found out if I was as good down there as pleasure models are.”
“You’re a better… individual than me,” Jaime says. “I’d have left them to rot.”
Her eyes shine brighter as she bites down on her lower lip.
“I think you’re better than you give yourself credit for, sir.”
He feels like she knows something he doesn’t.
He doesn’t know how right he is about that and how wrong he was about… about the rest.
