Lena is on her fifth sleepless night in a row when her dear friend Jess suggests she visit a doctor for her troubles. Her suggestion is given slyly, a smirk painted on Jess’s face. This smirk has not always ended well for Lena, but she is desperate, overcome with shocking thoughts and tossing and turning, and so she accepts a recommendation: a Dr. Danvers, of Marylebone.
This moment is one she will spend her life looking back on, at times rueing and others thanking a giving and kind God for.

Summary
Lena visits Adam's grave.
She kneels down in the damp grass when she finds him, her trousers soaking at the knees. For a long time she sits there, face to face with a simple headstone, marked with name and date, birth and death. Her fingers trace the final number, the familiarity of it heavy in her chest.
At the telltale sound of a swishing cape and boots touching earth, she does not turn around. Her fingers drop into her lap, twisting around each other, wishing for something else to hold onto. Behind her she can hear Kara breathing, and can feel her uncertainty.
It hangs heavy between them.
