“I know.” Kun says, seeing Ten. Ten with vomit lacing his chin and his jaw. Ten with his mascara streaking, haunting and haunted. Ten in a silver shirt, buttoned all wrong. Ten with pink elbows, perhaps worsened by the alcohol. Ten with his angel lips. But also Ten with his devil tongue, as foul and filthy as needed. Ten under the purple lights of the apartment, purple only for the night—and then Ten below neon lights a few dreams ago, Ten with the lights off, Ten in rare and radiant daylight, Ten against the city’s fleeting memory. “You are pretty.”

Summary
