“He smells weird,” Rin says, in such a derisive tone that Kakashi opens his sharingan just to make sure that it’s really her.
“...Minato-sensei?” Kakashi asks, because even though he doesn’t know who Rin could be referring to besides him, it just seems so weird for her to be so rude to him.
“Yes,” Rin says, her eyes darting to Kakashi. “Like musty cheese.”
or: Rin’s odd dislike of Minato after he makes Hokage is either a sign that she’s finally snapped, or a sign of trust. Kakashi’s still deciding which.

Summary
Nohara Rin is a kind, devoted, and intellectual girl. Her favorite food is strawberries, and her favorite word is friendship. There’s someone else under her face, though, and that person isn’t really a person at all- just a miserable, shriveled consciousness too pathetic to let anyone see her. That’s why she wears the mask of Nohara Rin.
No one knows that, of course. It would defeat the point of the mask.
or: Team 7 time travels to the past to stop a catastrophe before it has the chance to begin, and in the process begin to understand who the person pretending to be Nohara Rin really is.

Summary
Rin-sensei has always seemed- untouchable, to Naruto. Not in the sense that he doesn’t think she can get hurt; he’s watched her fight often enough to know that she’s only human. Especially now, as he comes further and further into his abilities, as his strength begins to surpass her’s, Naruto knows just how kill-able she is.
It’s just- Rin shrugs off things that she shouldn’t. She slips through death and guilt and loneliness like a duck through water. No matter who she loses, or what goes wrong, she’s always the same old Rin-sensei. She seems untouchable.
