Summary
it takes a red bolt flashing and the clap of thunder rattling the rocks at his feet before he truly takes a look at his surroundings and sees the cabin he'd spent the better part of a day restoring with his friends has returned to an old decrepit shack. vines line the walls and doors and particles of what looks like ash dance around in his vision.
he can feel the air turn to lead in his chest, the sting of tears in his eyes when he realizes he's the one place he never thought he'd be again. he'd spent too many hours whether they be in a dream or physically spent wandering this realm that it feels familiar to him, almost as if he'd never left in the first place. he can feel the voices of the vines welcoming him home like an old friend, begging him to spend even just a second snug in between them.
