Summary
"Is there anything in particular that you would want?" Rex Lapis asks.
"Something entirely for you," his lord says, and Xiao does not understand.
"...I don't know, my lord," he says, finally, lowering his eyes. "I've never thought about it."
Rex Lapis makes a quiet, considering noise. "Think it over," he says, finally. "And tell me once you've thought about it."

Summary
Such a tender heart, beneath it all. Morax wonders at it – that a creature so fundamentally gentle could survive something so fundamentally cruel.
“In the fables of another world,” Morax murmurs, “the name Xiao is that of a spirit who encountered great hardship. He endured much suffering, as you have.” His thumb brushes beneath Alatus’s eye, catching the tear before it can fall. “Use this name from now on.”
A story about love, devotion, and vulnerability, told in six parts. Or, five lessons Zhongli learns from Xiao during their thousands of years at each other's sides, and one lesson Xiao learns from him.

Summary
To the victors of the Archon War go the promises of the future they dreamed of.
--
Xiao can’t suppress the heady rush that compels him to crane his neck to press his lips to Zhongli’s gracelessly, but the archon responds in kind immediately, arms unwinding to cup Xiao’s cheeks in his hands.
Without the sounds of birds calling to their companions and placid waves rustling in the harbor below, without the cries of mortals and spirits alike, they can almost pretend as if they’re the only remnants of Liyue’s past, gazing across battlefields silenced for the last time.

“It should have been me.” Xiao said, the words coming out acidic, a horrid taste left on his tongue. “It should have been–”
“Quiet, now.” Morax whispered into him. He ran his thumb over Xiao’s cheek once more, catching the tears as they fell, “I will take care of you, Xiao.”

Summary
How could this have happened?
The last he remembered was falling asleep in Zhongli’s arms and when he woke, it was to the sight of the god de-aged into a body younger than him. If Xiao had to guess from the power emitted from the god, Zhongli—or Morax as he was now—was around two thousand years old.
Not only that, but there was a sickening sweet smell seeping out of his body. Even if thousands of years had passed, Xiao would never forget this smell. It had been one of the poisons his former master liked to use—a poison strong enough to corrupt the bodies of the divine.
“Speak!” Morax growled and tightened his grip over the yaksha's neck. “Did Osial send you?”
