Summary
It's human desire— companionship. And yet, the warmth of a hand or tongue is oft a defiance.
For the doll set to erode, it is distraction enough, and for the beast abandoned and feared, it is worth every second. For the martyr doomed to rot, it is a delightful tether, and for the crane ringed by fate, it is a worthy sacrifice.
For even as tragedy comes with daybreak, they have each other. All they need.

Summary
Tradition: a stifling oppressor of progress and creativity. To Hira at least.
Born of a closed clan, devout in protecting the sanctity of their curse technique, Hira is a black sheep. Taboo to tattoos, she finds their superstitious beliefs to be stunting and harmful. And maybe they are, but some things are the way they are for a reason.
Scribes, recordkeepers and curse-sealers, would know: the balance must be preserved.
