Summary
Omegas are a rarity in Modern Westeros, with alphas, betas and “normals” becoming more common as the population grows. In the past, there was much need for them, as the rate of survival for newborns was a bleak thing. Known for their healthy wombs that can give birth to multiple children without strain and extreme fertility that any use of contraceptives has a 15% chance of failure, omegas are not necessarily needed in this current time and age of new medical advancements as omega presentations decline. About 1.5% (maybe even less) of the current population in the world are existing omegas—comprising mainly from older generations.
Yet, in the Greyjoy family, young Theon Greyjoy presents as an omega male in a line that mostly produces alphas. Omegas are rare, but male omegas even more so. Theon predicts his presentation will not go well with his dad, a man who prides himself on being an alpha, his oldest sons and daughter being alphas and a distaste for things he believes are a sign of weakness (which happen to include omegas in the man’s long list that Theon unwittingly notes). What the youngest Greyjoy doesn’t expect at all is the... strange way his older brothers have started to act towards him.
