Summary
“I met a lady on the call the other day, the one I pulled out of the other unit… she said she was psychic and then started talking about granting wishes. It all sounded so ridiculous, but I-I think she did something to me. I know I sound crazy, but I think I have to do whatever people tell me to.”
Buck jerks back, stands to his full height, and Eddie sees the last twenty-four hours playing through his eyes in perfect clarity, without one second of doubt. Buck believes him, instantly, wholly, without question, and Eddie suffocates the sob in his throat.
“Oh, Eddie, you’re…” Buck says, “wait, is that why you were giving that guy your number?”
“That’s your question?” He gasps through a laugh, and it’s wet and dangerous.
“Yes,” Buck says, without an ounce of remorse.

Summary
“Are you finally proposing?” Buck asks, and the air rushes out of Eddie like he’s been punched in the gut, a swift burst.
Hearing it from Buck makes it real, solidified, no longer a shapeless fantasy in his head.
"Proposing what?”
“Marriage, genius.” Buck snorts. “Duh.”
Buck peels Eddie's pomegranates, carves out the brown spots from his apples, eats the ugly, discolored fruit. Eddie wants to propose, spirals, and crashes a car about it.

Summary
“I get used to it, I guess. Kind of. After a while,” Eddie says. Then, very quietly, “I’m just, uh, sensitive.”
“Oh,” Buck says. Eddie's just sensitive. Eddie, his best friend, who he has now seen when he comes. Who comes in under a minute if he isn’t getting some on the regs. This is – this is – interesting.
Love and premature ejaculation.

Summary
Buck knows what he’s doing might be constituted as ‘a bit creepy,’ but he can’t really help it. He has a book in his lap, so it’s not like he’s just staring at Eddie, but—ok, so he hasn’t actually read a page in over twenty minutes, and in the meantime he has watched his best friend chop like six different kinds of vegetables to go in Bobby’s ragu.
“How’s it going, Buck?” Hen asks, flinging herself into the adjacent arm chair.
“Fine,” Buck says, barely looking at her. “But something’s up with Eddie.”
or, Eddie flirts. Buck worries.

Summary
Buck’s not really sure what to say here, so he doesn’t say anything. For a minute they stand there in total silence, the TV muted, and looking at Eddie – the defeated slump of his shoulders, the hand over his mouth, the eyes staring blankly at nothing – it’s like those modern art installations one of Buck’s exes used to take him to: Man, with broken heart.
Man, eviscerated.
Buck’s no good with people being sad around him – it always feels like his responsibility, like if they aren’t smiling it’s his fault, and this time it really is his fault, at least partially, so he offers, “You can beat me up, if it would make you feel better.”
