Summary
Vodyanitsa takes Odette’s hand in her own. “What Alyosha and I have should have no effect on what you and I share. He is dear to me, but so are you. It would be unfair for me to neglect one of you for the other.” She kisses Odette’s palm, sees her expression twist with her own conflicting emotions. “And it would also be unfair for me to be the reason the two of you refuse to indulge in each other.”
“That’s not—” Odette starts, trying to tug her hand away gently. Vodyanitsa holds on, and Odette gives up fast. “I never said that’s what I wanted.”
“But you were thinking it,” Vodyanitsa counters with a smile.
