As she moves closer, she can clearly see the picture now, and recognizes that the photo is of a young Mike and Will. Mike has one arm wrapped around Will as they stand side by side and smile widely. Will is wearing a green jacket, and Mike is wearing a grey sweater. But there’s something about the picture that El can’t quite put her finger on. There’s a feeling, deep in her chest, and she knows she’s smart, so when it finally hits her — she laughs.
She realizes that it’s the first photo she’s ever seen Mike smile in. He only ever smiles in photos with Will.

Summary
Mike laughs, a light, pleasant sound, and Will can feel the vibrations of it through the warm press of their arms and legs.
“It’s fine. I stare at you, too, for the record.”
“Oh,” Will says, ignoring the fluttering sensation in his stomach, “You do?”
“Yeah,” Mike replies, a little embarrassed, “Of course I do.” Will can hear the affection seeping from his tone, and he grins.
“You love me,” Will says and tries to jab Mike back, but Mike meets him halfway, catching him by the wrist to clasp their hands together.
He means it as a joke, but Mike’s face suddenly becomes serious as he tightens his hold on his hand. “I do,” he says firmly, “I love you.”
