Summary
When Robin came into work a week before Halloween with that somewhat guilty but somewhat amused look in her eye, Steve knew he was being roped into something.
"No." He picked up an armful of tapes and maneuvered himself out from behind the counter.
"Oh come on Steve, it's gonna be like four hours max and I'll be doing your makeup and you don't even really have to do anything if you don't want to." Robin followed him around as he put the tapes back on the shelves, missing the armhole of her smock three times before she actually looked where she was putting her hand.
OR
Steve gets roped into being a scare actor at the local haunted house by Robin. He finds he doesn't hate it and from the way Eddie's looking at him, he doesn't hate it that much either.

more and more, the captain feels like something out a story, like a legend more than a material person that walks the decks with his crew. they paint him in the golden light of a man made god, a captain walking alongside blackbeard and hornigold, speak of him in a stature only earned by one’s body coming to rest at the bottom of the sea.
yet here he stands, only flesh and bone.
or;
when steve was younger, his nanny would tell him stories of pirates. brave, dashing men with fire in their eyes and freedom in their hearts, chasing their own destiny, bound by no one, indebted only to the sea.
he’d hung onto every word, eyes big and hands pressed to his little mouth to stop his gasps of excitement from interrupting her.
every day, he’d wish for it, dream about stepping foot on a pirate’s ship even if just once.
never had he imagined it’d come true, and certainly not like this.

Summary
Arthur turns towards him at that moment, closer than Jack has ever been to him. A beat passes and Arthur's eyes dip down to something just below Jack's eyes. A breathy whimper leaving Arthur's lips as he stares.
Another beat and Jack finally figures it out. Finally learns why Arthur's father gave practically everything to Arthur's sister, and why sometimes Arthur would step closer to Jack when it wasn't necessary.
"Oh." It falls from his lips before he even has time to catch it. Who could have thought?
