Summary
Xilonen’s heat comes early, before she even has the chance to confront Mavuika about the death Citlali saw in her future. Overwhelmed by stress, emotion and now hormones, Xilonen struggles to have a proper conversation with her beloved Archon.
[She kisses Xilonen like she always does, as if she hasn’t already chosen a date for her life to end. She kisses Xilonen as if she doesn’t intend to say goodbye, as if she doesn’t know she is going to die. She kisses Xilonen as if everything is just as it was before, and Xilonen is terrified by how close she was to being tricked until the end.
If Citlali had not been there, if she had not broken the rules and openly admitted to it, Xilonen would be melting blissfully beneath Mavuika’s attention, none-the-wiser to her imminent death. Is that how Mavuika wants this to end, a sudden farewell instead of one that is long and drawn-out?]
