“It’s Nancy.”
A long pause, then a laugh. “Wheeler? To what do I owe this late-night honor?”
“I, um.” Nancy’s tongue feels stuck to the inside of her mouth, like bare skin on upholstery. “I was wondering if you’ve got a couch I can crash on?”
Nancy finds herself in Olympia, Washington on the eve of the Riot Grrrl movement.

Summary
“I should be at Emerson right now.” Nancy says, gesturing firmly but almost carelessly with the flask. “I should be studying journalism, and – fucking proving every smarmy motherfucker who ever doubted me wrong.” She moves to take a gulp from the flask that’s big enough for Robin’s brows to raise a bit. Nancy swallows before she’s gesturing with both hands to say, “And being a fucking college student! I should finally be free of all this, free to – be who I always wanted to be! To get out of this bullshit town, to have new experiences, to experiment—”
It’s perhaps due to the lull of quickly oncoming intoxication that the next words slip out of Robin's mouth, unbidden.
“Experiment with what?”
