It is easy to imagine, the two of them passing out presents to the children at the fete. Wriothesley handing him a box, Neuvillette’s fingers brushing against his as he accepts the box. Their eyes meeting across the top of the present. A charged, knowing moment passing between them. And then, later, Wriothesley might pull Neuvillette aside, might confess to him that his heart is too full in the way the Neuvillette’s is, and Neuvillette might, at last, have someone to love and be loved by on the Solstice.
How wonderful that might be.
What a shame it must remain a fantasy.
Neuvillette finds himself trapped in a time loop on the eve of the midwinter solstice.

The room is quiet with the sound of shuffling papers and clinking teacups until Clorinde breaks in with an amused laugh. “This is one of those love letters,” she starts, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she readjusts the way she sits to face him broadside. “It almost sounds like it's about you.”
“Me?” He laughs, albeit incredulously. “Must be a boring one, then.”
A joke between Wriothesley and Clorinde lands them with a weekly advice column in the Steambird. While the submissions are anonymous, one particular letter, seemingly about Wriothesley, catches their eye – an ask for romantic advice. Clorinde moves on but Wriothesley connects the dots. He knows who wrote this letter but he can hardly believe it.
