When Eli goes to get Conor before the elopement, he finds the broken lamp and wants to know what happened. Eli gives Conor the push he needs to finally be with Maya.

    This short little fic takes place the morning after Maya manipulates Conor into telling her to go to her room, with Conor waking up to the news of the active volcano and follows the events that happen throughout the day. In the book, this seems like it’s a tipping point where I finally thought Conor would open his eyes and realize that his decision to "free" Maya from him is idiotic and actually causing pain for them both... but at the end of the day he still needs that final push from Maya, where she has to spell everything out for him. This is what I imagine is going on in Conor's brain.
